Student Activities

BRANDING / CONTENT / EXPERIENCE

I was one of two designers on the Marketing team for the George Fox University Student Activities team. Working closely with my fellow designer, we collaborated on various projects to promote the university's student events through our designs. Our responsibilities ranged from crafting eye-catching posters and informative handouts to engaging social media posts, all aimed at showcasing the fun and exciting activities available for students at George Fox.

    • Designed promotional materials—including posters, flyers, digital signage, and social content—for a wide range of student events.

    • Collaborated with another designer to maintain consistent visual standards across all marketing assets.

    • Interpreted event goals and themes into clear, engaging, student-friendly visual storytelling.

    • Balancing the high volume and quick turnaround of event-driven design needs throughout the school year.

    • Ensuring each event maintained its own identity while still fitting within the broader Student Activities brand.

    • Designing for multiple mediums and formats, from print to digital, without sacrificing clarity or visual impact.

    • Designed a cohesive suite of promotional materials — from posters and flyers to digital signage and social content — that elevated awareness of student events and helped drive higher overall attendance throughout the school year.

    • Transformed event themes into engaging, student‑friendly visual storytelling that resonated across print and digital channels, making the activities feel more inviting and easier for students to connect with.

    • Strengthened student engagement on social platforms by creating visually compelling content that supported conversation, shares, and buzz — contributing to increased activity interaction and remarkability online.

Conceptualization

For every design, I want to make sure that an idea makes sense and is easy to follow. For that reason, I need to sketch out ideas and test with individuals to get an understanding of what everyone else sees. Not just my own biases. This was the repeated process for all 23 school events.

Finalization

Once the concept has gone through revisions and received its final approval, I move on to preparing multiple files for both print and digital mediums. This typically included but was not limited to posters, tv screens, social promotions, event rule books, table displays, etc.
